Spill

My Masterchef episode was Ruddly interrrupted this evening due to a leadership spill in the labor party. I was waiting to see how Callum’s pudding would turn out when lo and behold our Prime Minister appears on my screen. At that very instant both hubby and I who were lying down, sat up to see what was going on. I have to admit that my heart skipped a beat. Let me explain why.

A few years ago, hubby and I were watching TV, it was late at night around 10.30ish and I was half asleep when hubby awakened me with a shake and said: GET UP! NOW! WATCH THIS! And we watched a plane fly directly into a building. The adrenaline hit both of us at the same time and we held hands while we watched the devastation of September 11 2001 unfold. Neither of us slept that night as we didn’t know what was happening and why it was happening at that stage. So even after all these years and the fact that I was not directly affected by these events, I still cringe a little when my normal TV schedule is unexpectedly interrupted by a major news announcement.

It is such a relief that it is a leadership spill and not another disaster. And the good news is Marion and Callum won the challenge and Joanne faces elimination. Be happy for what you have achieved Joanne as you say Goodbye (I hope). And now I have to go back to read my tweets and Twitter has gone mad over #spill.
