One more post

One more post and I’ll be up to date and we are halfway through the blog every day in June … phew!

Yesterday when I picked up my son from school, it was pouring down. He didn’t care. He grabbed my hand and said there’s the car and we both ran towards it without worrying about getting wet but just wanting to avoid getting drenched. He got in the car, he did his usual routine and then as I started driving, he started singing a song in french to me.

It was a little mother son moment where he knew it would make me happy because I always ask him and he never does it and yet I didn’t ask yesterday and he just did it with a big smile so then we sang the songs a few more times where I would sing a few words and he would complete it. To most this wouldn’t mean a lot but I think to both of us, it was a magical bonding session. He smiled knowingly at me while I giggled away with tears of joy in my eyes. Kids really are wondrous beings and are so good for the soul.

Disco

My daughter went to her very first disco. I picked her up from school, brought her home where we chilled for a bit, got dressed into her fancy red dress, red cardigan, red hair clips and black boots and black leggings to match the disco theme of red, black and white. She had her hair braided and looked beautiful. We arrived at the disco just in time for the delicious sausage sizzle. It was all so well organised and so many parents volunteering – great to see and experience first hand the sense of community.

Mini me decided to hit the dance floor as soon as the DJ started playing the loud hip hop music and I didn’t see her again until she was thirsty towards the end of the disco. She was right at the front in the mosh pit and didn’t stop dancing like a crazy person. That’s my girl! There were a few instances where I wanted to get onto that dance floor and show her a few of my moves to: ” I like to move it move it!” or “Grease” or “YMCA” and of course the “Macarena” but I stopped myself from embarrassing her :)

Things can turn out better than expected at times

I had an outing tonight that I really did not want to go to … only because it is cold and wet and this week has been quite an exhausting week and I just wanted to go to bed with a cup of hot tea and a good book under my duvet. Due to some convincing from my family, I ended up going and it turned out to be quite a nice evening after all. I caught up with some people I hadn’t spoken to in a while and we shared some great laughs.

By a twist of fate, we ended up heading to a restaurant I had been meaning to visit for quite some time where we shared a fantastic meal. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and things just fall into place nicely. And the icing on the cake is that we are getting a sleep in too. :)
